Whats the right sort of figure for dancing ?

Ive got quite strong ankles, strong calves, my thighs are one of the problems. their quite big although not fat their just muscly( spelling?), my flexability is good and my tummy muscles are very strong, my bum ... hmmm lol ( moving on ) lol

Is there a chance that when i audition for dance schools they wont except me because of these. Im reasonably good at dancing ( not going to boast) and im flexible my teachers say im talented at turning and jumping( like leaps and other grande allegro) so is there a chance that the would not give me a chance for them to get me into their shape and that they would prjeudge me straight away because iam not exactly their ideal shape?

Well, ideally they want you to have reasonably long legs and arms, be kinda skinny and have a flat chest. but for what u mentioned..........sounds like you%26#039;re pretty good. They judge primarily on what you are capable of in future, not now. Most phsical problems can be worked around so it shouldn%26#039;t be too much of a problem. Plus you have the good basics, strong tummy muscles and ankles, and flexibility are essential!Good luck!!!

hmm, i don%26#039;t think so, aslong as youre not actually fat, but even if they do, just exercise and work on those big areas. and ive wanted to be a dancer all my life and never had the chance, so good luck! x
Reply:the one u hav
Reply:no. if they are smart they will not prejudge. there are great dancers of many sizes and as long as your stamina is up to par- then i see no problem.

good luck in everything you do. :)
Reply:i don%26#039;t think they will. you sound perfect to me and most ballet schools or companies accept that everyone is different. i had the same problem with my thighs, mine are pretty big but i worked out why and was able to fix it slightly, well prevent them getting worse. make sure when you are lifting your leg that you lift it from underneath and not from the top with your thigh muscle. the more you use it, the more strain your putting it under and the bigger it will get! happy dancing!
